Activities for Children and Teens

Christian Education News
Our regular Sunday school year is rapidly coming to a close, but it has been one full of fun and promise. We have welcomed six new babies to our nursery since last summer and we still have at least one more on the way! Because of this exciting population boom we are in need of Nursery help. Many of our parents would love to leave their babies in the safe and loving arms of one of our congregation members for an hour so that they may rejuvenate their spirit. If you would be willing to work one or two Sundays a month, please see me, one of the CE superintendents or Jeannine Page-Tear.
Do you love children, but prefer to work with ones who are past the infancy stage? Not a problem - we have children from toddler age through high school. We are also looking for teachers for our elementary age students for the fall. We have a great curriculum written by PCUSA and will give you all the training, help supplies and support necessary to make the experience enjoyable for both teachers and students.
Graduation time is right around the corner! If you know of a church member who is graduating from high school, college or other institutions of higher learning, please let me know or call the church office by May 23rd, so that we may include them in our Graduate Recognition Reception on June 6th.
June 13th is our Teacher Appreciation Sunday. We will be honoring those who have devoted their time and efforts to your children and students throughout the year. It is also the last regular class before we begin our summer program the next week. We are planning a trip to the Detroit Zoo following church on the 13th. We will probably meet together for lunch then head out together. Watch the bulletin and the next newsletter for details.

Peace and Joy,
Julie Smith

D.O.G. : Disciples Of God (Son of) Man’s best friend

Where ideas are shared and thoughts are expressed.

Grades 6-12

The young people that make up the FPC Youth Group are unique individuals. They center themselves on the belief that Jesus Christ is their number one mentor and that through Him, they cannot be shaken.

Our group is open to all young people. You do not have to be a member of our congregation to participate in our activities. Whether you have known Christ for some time, or you are looking to see what He is all about, there is a place for you.

As Disciples Of God we strive to:

Become followers of Christ and leaders in our society

Give our time when and where it is needed and wanted

Inform others and spread goodwill in our communities

Develop a better future for our church family and our world

Enjoy the fellowship of our peers

Our activities range from outreach to hospitalized children to sleeping in boxes. Some of the things we do consist of:

Meeting for times of fellowship

Taking part in worship services

Bible studies

Spiritual retreats

Christmas caroling

Visiting sick children

Mission trips

The D.O.G.s normally meet on the second and fourth Saturdays at 7 pm, but many special events are added to the schedule. Contact Joelle Page or Mike Cavin for more information.
