“Experience the Joy of God’s Love in Action” is the motto of First Presbyterian Church Pontiac
and that certainly was lived out on Thursday, January 3rd, 2008, in the dining room of our church where a very successful blood drive took place.  A total of 28 pints were collected, which is very important at a  time of  the year when blood supplies are typically low,  but critically needed. Each pint of blood collected has  the potential to save three lives.
We are a very mission oriented church, and we are constantly seeking new ways to help out in our community.

Our Pastors, Roy and Janice Langwig, along with the rest of our congregation, believe that it is our calling as a church to be a real part of a solution to many of the problems that face us as
a nation today.   I would like to thank everyone who helped to make our blood drive a great success, in particular Bo’s Brewery and Bistro for donating a gift certificate, and  Joyce Raczka for  making three beautiful gift baskets to use in our raffle.
I also would like to send a
special thank you to our volunteers and most importantly to all of the people that came out to  donate blood.
I know that this will sound strange but we participate  in mission work for a very selfish reason.   Helping  others really gives you a very special feeling. It is truly  the joy that makes the difference in your life!  It gives you a little piece of God’s love that really shows you what our lives on earth are truly meant to be like. It’s not how much you have, but how much you give away that really counts!
If you are interested in donating blood, you can contact the Red Cross at 1-800-GIVE –LIFE or watch our website for a future blood drive date in the summer of 2008.
