Our vision for Outreach

First Presbyterian Church of Pontiac has a heart for all people, and a calling to touch our community for Jesus Christ.

Our mission is to be faithful to God's vision for us by increasing our knowledge of God's Word, by reaching out to an increasingly diverse population, and by being doers of God's word in worship and ministry.

We seek to touch lives as individual Christians and as a congregation. Toward that end we worship, pray, and engage in a wide variety of outreach ministries, including:

  • Providing food baskets and gifts to 55 families and seniors at Christmas
  • Ensuring that senior citizens have transportation to church activities
  • Working with Habitat for Humanity to build homes in Pontiac
  • Hosting a Mobile Health Fair in July
  • Serving senior citizens meals at the Lighthouse
  • Providing books for the Hispanic Literacy Program in Pontiac
  • Supporting ten Christian mission projects locally and aound the world
  • Partnering with other Christian churches to help those in crisis
  • Sponsoring six children in third world countries
  • Supporting campus ministry to college students
  • Sewing quilts and providing supplies to Christian health workers around the world
  • Contributing to national and international relief efforts through the One Great Hour of Sharing, Heifer International, and other organizations
  • And many more!
