Our vision for Outreach

First Presbyterian Church of Pontiac has a heart for all people, and a calling to touch our community for Jesus Christ.

Our mission is to be faithful to God's vision for us by increasing our knowledge of God's Word, by reaching out to an increasingly diverse population, and by being doers of God's word in worship and ministry.

We seek to touch lives as individual Christians and as a congregation. Toward that end we worship, pray, and engage in a wide variety of outreach ministries, including:

  • Tutoring at Longfellow Elementary School
  • Visiting the pediatric unit of St. Joseph's Hospital
  • Ensuring that senior citizens have transportation to church activities
  • Serving senior citizens meals at the Lighthouse
  • Providing food baskets and gifts to 55 families and seniors at Christmas
  • Partnering with other Christian churches and relief organizations to help those in crisis
  • Sponsoring three children in third world countries
  • Supporting campus ministry to college students
  • Sewing quilts and providing supplies to Christian health workers around the world
  • Providing uplifting Christian concerts through the Coffee House Concert ministry
  • Contributing to national and international relief efforts through the One Great Hour of Sharing
  • And many more!
